You are not expected to possess a detailed level of knowledge of EMS and auditing prior to the course. Though it will help if you have a basic knowledge of environmental issues relevant to your company.

What you'll learn

On completion of this EMS auditor training course you will be able to:

  1. Understand the basics and background of EMS auditing.
  2. Understand and be able to describe the relationship and differences between a range of audit types.
  3. Understand the principles of auditing (BS EN ISO 19011)
  4. Understand the internal audit process.
  5. Identify key compliance obligations with environment-related content.
  6. Identify and explain Environmental Aspects/ Impacts and their significance; and evaluate their broader role in the determination of organisational/business risks and opportunities.
  7. Be able to identify other sources of information and advice.

The training comprises presentations, workshops, and role-play exercises.

Please note: Participants are not expected to possess knowledge of auditing, quality management systems or ISO 14001:2015 before attending the course.

Assessment

This qualification is made up of three main assessments. These include:

  • A quiz testing knowledge attained
  • A practical internal audit, with live evidence, including an audit report write-up
  • Tutor observation of your involvement in the course

Each of the assessments is completed during the three-day course.
